Welder Qualification (WQ)

At SOMBROEK W.E., we offer professional support in obtaining a Welder Qualification (WQ). A WQ is focused on the welder themselves and demonstrates that they are competent enough to perform specific welding activities. This certificate is essential for ensuring the quality and safety of welding projects.


The process of registering and issuing a WQ certificate involves assessing several important points, such as the standard (e.g., ISO 9606-1, ASME IX, or AWS D1.1), the welding process, the weld, the material type, and the welding position. After the welder has carried out the welding activities, the workpiece is subjected to Non-Destructive Testing (NDT). Upon approval, the welder receives a certificate that is valid for two years, with the obligation to extend it every six months.

Welders who already have a WQ certificate can register it with SOMBROEK W.E. We keep them informed of when their certificate needs to be renewed, so they always meet the required standards.

The issuing of both the WQ certificates is done under the authority of Applus RTD and DNV, which guarantees that your certifications meet the highest quality standards.
